Picture this – It’s 2000 and whilst Great Britain were competing at the Olympics in Sydney and winning several gold, silver & bronze medals, the Founder and a Software Developer friend had big plans. After a day at work & to encourage their creative juices, they popped to the pub next door to come up with ideas for a company name. After several conversations and scribbles on the backs of beer mats “thecitysecret” was born.
In 2000 the company had secured a development project with a large International Investment Bank. With the advancements in telecoms and data connectivity it was no longer necessary to be based onsite and instead the development work could be completed remotely. With desk space in Canary Wharf at a premium and London salaries high, thecitysecret were able to offer more affordable solutions to their Banking customer, while their staff benefited from the quality of life living in rural North Yorkshire.
Fast forward 20 years and as well as working with Investment Banks and other Financial Institutions we are also working with local companies, offering software development services as well as business IT support.
As we recognise our 20th anniversary, we’re also celebrating a new event in thecitysecret’s history. We’re proud to share that our team won the award for Professional Services category in the Richmond Business Excellence Awards. We do lots in our local community that we just forget to shout about; supporting the local Mountain Rescue to ensure their IT equipment is maintained, volunteering with local business networks to help drive social media. These are just a couple of examples. It was great to have the additional community work we do recognised.
Winning this award would never have been possible without our team who are happy to give up time to support our local community. Continuing this theme we wanted celebrate our anniversary by giving back to the business community – find out more here.
